PEAR is the governance and utility token of Pear Protocol. 147,780,472 PEAR have been permanently burned since launch, bringing the current total supply to **852,219,528 PEAR** (see [Tokenomics update: July 2025](/tokenomics/tokenomics-update-july-2025) for the burn history).

### Utility [#utility]

Under PIP-3 (ratified January 2026), protocol revenue accrues to \$PEAR on-chain: 70% to weekly buybacks, permanent burns, and liquidity, and 30% to the DAO treasury (instead of being distributed to stakers). PEAR's utility today:

1. **Fee discounts**: up to 50% off fees based on your staked balance ([stPEAR-based trading discounts](/fees/stpear-based-trading-discounts)).
2. **Vault access**: a staked balance gates priority entry into Pear vaults.
3. **Governance weight**: vote on proposals that shape Pear Protocol ([DAO & Governance](/tokenomics/dao-and-governance)).
